New Pink Display For 2012

Its been a busy start for an exciting new year. I have so many projects I am working on that I am getting a bit overwhelmed, but I am making progress on some new designs. To start with I finished my display for my space at Green Table Gifts. The post below shows some before photos. I only have it partially filled so far. The grand opening is on February 1st and I will be adding lots of new things before then. I have been working on some new pillows this weekend too.

This has been somewhat of a trying week at work. I just dont think I am following my true destination. Many signs are presenting themselves that I am on the wrong track. The problem is I feel like I am twirling in a circle looking for an open door or window to go through. The "what not to do" is very clear! Its what to do about it I am searching for. So, for this next week I am going to keep myself buried in my studio. This is what brings me calmness and peace. I saw an inspirational quote that says "Feed your faith and your fears will starve to death." I am not sure of the source of the quote, but I love it :) In the meantime I am going to be creating and doing what I know is true. :) Have a great week and happy creating!!!

The Garage Sale Goddess Was With Me:)

So whats a girl to do when she has to come up with a new display for a shop. Hit the garage sales! I havent been for awhile, and actually I only had to go to one. I was looking for some ideas for a new display for my spot in the ever so cute Green Table Gifts. They are moving to a new and better location on February 1st and its a lot bigger and a different configuration so I had to come up with something new. My back drop will be a vintage door. So I needed fairly narrow and tall. I found this book case for $5.00! I am using this frame Patty, from the shop, gave me to use. I can display and hang my jewelry on the wire. But of course I had to paint it pink. So much better now:) I move in to my new home tuesday, but for now some before and after photos and a sneek peek of the display. If you are in the local area and get a chance, please stop by and check out the new place. The shop will have many new vendors. Lots of vintage and handmade creations. If you are a fan of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, you will be very happy. Green Table Gifts is only one of two stores in Arizona able to sell this great paint. The other great bargain that I am so thrilled with is this Vera Bradly bag. There is not a spot on it and I got it for $3.00. Its perfect to use when I have a teaching class for all of the things I need to bring with me. It made my day!! This "M" pillow is the latest class I taught. Its for teens and it is so much fun.

Its Time For Class To Start

Hi:) Its been a great start to the new year. For one thing the Shop I am in, Green Table Gifts, is moving to a bigger, brighter and new place. Its in an awesome location. I have to come up with a new display set up, and I think I have came up with the perfect plan. I will be posting photos of the new display and shop later this month. I also start teaching this month. My first classes will be at Joanns and here are a couple photos of the first couple projects. The place mat is a beginning class for adults and the little denim bag is a teen class. Its just the beginning. I have lots of plans for the next few months. If there is something you think would be a great sewing, art or craft class, let me know. I would love to hear what would be a good class. My goal is to have a venue where I can teach my own classes and have other teachers teach as well.

There has been alot of doodling going on too. I have been trying to come up with a design I can turn into fabric through Spoonflower to make some new Pet items. Like harnesses with leads. This was fun, but not quite what I am looking for. I am also creating some patterns from some of my cupcake and ice cream cone pillows. So, busy busy and I love every minute of it. Happy creating... Heres to 2012 !!!

Happy New Year:) I have a great feeling about this coming year. I know this is a day to make new resolutions on how to make your life better. And I do have a few, number one being, FINALLY clearing out my email boxes at home and work! But I am also looking back and reflecting on the past. One of my major goals of 2011 was to have my hip replacement and fully recover. Now that I am on this side of that surgery I am so happy. I was not very patient most of the time and wondered if I was ever going to get better after all; thank goodness my logical self gave myself until Christmas to feel 100%. And I really do. I now need to really build up more strength. One thing I promised myself was that I would never take walking for granted again. So I am doing all kinds of things I hadnt been able to do for years. Going to the Mall to go Christmas Shopping was pretty awesome. I had not been to a mall in several years! But walking everyday is another resolution for 2012. I have some ideas on where I want my creative endeavors to go as well, but still working out some details. I have been busy sewing some new things I cant wait to share.
The one thing I own that reflects on my life is my charm bracelet. It was given to me on my 16th birthday by my Mom and its one of my favorite possessions. I have tried to keep up with all of the special events and interests of my life. I wonder what new charms I will collect this year! I just know I am looking forward to this New Year. I wish you a happy, healthy and creative New Year!

Some Christmas Fun:)

Boy,,, its been very busy around here. Just trying to finish up some gifts, the end of the season shows and making sure my website and the shop I am in are stocked. I am really looking forward to the New Year. I gave myself this year to have my surgery and make a full recovery from that. I am so glad to be on this side of that! I am doing very well now. Its taken alot of patience, way more than I normally have, but its been a humbling and learning experience. But I am ready to take on all of my new projects and ideas and get this New Year rolling:) I will start teaching sewing classes for adults, teens and kids in January. I am really looking forward to that and as I build on that I would like to branch out to other class venues.

But for today, we had our annuel contest at Target to dress one of the little dogs. All of the head quarter employees vote on them. When the voting is done, they will be going to the Childrens Hospital. So no one looses! Its always fun and I love thinking of new ideas for outfits.

I also got an awesome suprise in the mail from my sweet friend Shell from the Raspberry Rabbits. She knows me well. I am a goofy girl who loves squirrels! I know its because I live in AZ and we dont have any here to put up with, but I think they are adorable and so fun to watch. This little guys is needle felted and even has an acorn in his paws. He is going to sit on my desk all year round!

And last but not least,, a new photo of my new Grand Pug, Bently. I think he is about 5 months old now. He is a tiny guy, and appears wont be too big. Just adorable and the sweetest disposition. Very smart too. Well, have a great day. I hope everyone is ready for Christmas and all of the holiday celebrations. I am getting there!

How Many Things Can You Make With A Shirt:)

I am having fun with new ideas. You have to always be looking ahead. I have been creating new designs and also working on drafting patterns of my cupcake and ice cream cone pillows. But I have also been having some fun repurposing mens shirts. I found this pink and white striped shirt at goodwill and made a chair cover, two wine bottle gift bags and with some left over scraps, a cupcake pot holder:)

When Family Gathers

November brings the excitement of preparation and planning for when the family gathers. The air is crisp in Autumn and the days are short, however, nothing warms us up more than coming home. Whether if just for a day or two, there is much to do to get ready for the guests to arrive.

Furniture needs to be moved to accommodate everyone. Small side tables come out. Remember to put the extra leaves in the table and count all the chairs. Ironing the large tablecloth and linen napkins is a pleasure as visions of the holiday tablescape come into plan: soup tureens, gravy bowls, large serving bowls, extra silverware and serving pieces, candlestick holders and the very best china and crystal stemware comes out to be used and enjoyed by all.

Don't forget to plump up the pillows and add another quilt to the daybed as Uncle always loves to take a little 'cat nap' after dinner as much as he tries not to. All the youngsters can play with the tins filled with vintage old fashioned games of dominoes, cards, wooden blocks, marbles, buttons, paper dolls and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, to name but a few of the childhood treasures.

I cannot wait to hear the squeals of 'ooh's and ah's' as everyone sees the desserts making their grand debut.on two tiered bone china servers, cut crystal platters, Nippon candy dishes and decorative baskets filled to the brim with delicious delights. Everyone will gather around with child-like anticipation as they try to select 'oh just one of these....maybe one of those'. The tea which has been seeping in the teapot is ready to be poured into the various floral teacups. Nothing matches and that is what makes it so quaint and charming.

The apron can now come off. Tugging at my heart strings, I stop my pondering and say a prayer of thanks for when the family gathers and look forward to our time together.

Show and Tell Monday

It is getting craft show season and I have been busy at work. My first show is friday night and I am doing it with my friend Phyllis. I am working on all new products. They are in a various state of completion. So I will have more to show during the week. Not only are the craft shows gearing up, but the Stocking Stuffer Shop is due to open at Make Mine Pink in a couple of weeks. So I am going to keep my nose to the sewing machine so I have lots of new things for this fall.

Today I finished a couple pumpkin and apple pot holders. I also wanted to share my new dress form I just got. Its not vintage, but she will do. I got her at Home Goods for a very, very good price. Just could not leave her there. She will be perfect for display for many of my new things. Jewelry, purses and shrugs.

I wish I have more hours in the day. Besides having to work the day job, adding inventory to all of my shops, craft shows and my website, I am really trying to get some more classes scheduled. Thats going well, but boy I would love to have more time to really get that project going. I hope you all have a great week and find time for creating! I will be back soon:)

Wedding Party Hair Barrettes

I hope its a pretty fall day in your part of the world. This time of year I get so inspired. The holidays are coming and everywhere you look you see wonderful holiday projects. The holiday issues of the magazines are out and websites are getting decked out too. I am officially addicted to Pinterest.com too. :) I have been getting so much done and new ideas are sketched out and waiting for the patterns to be finished so that I can start the sewing. I am getting new ideas ready for classes as well. I hope to expand teaching classes to different venues around town. If anyone has any ideas for a class you would like to see offered, please let me know:). My day job is just not working out and I plan on working very hard over the next couple months to change direction.

I have been doing some special orders for customers also. Thats been picking up too. Its all very exciting. My last project was these hair barrettes for an upcoming wedding for a co-worker. Her wedding is going to be in a pretty shade of red with peacock accents.

Loving October

October is my favorite month. When you live in the southwest desert and its been months of triple digit weather any relief is awesome. It still gets in the low 100's in the afternoons, but the mornings and evenings are so pretty. Not to mention October is mega birthday month around here. Nearly all of my family and friends birthdays are in October so there is alot of celebrating going on.

I have been trying to transition my work life into a more creative job. I made the decision to go part time at my job. I wasnt healing from my surgery as well as I should have been sitting for 8 hours straight everyday. So I go in from 6 to 10 in the mornings. I will be teaching sewing classes at Joanns starting officially in January, but may do some classes in Dec. Once I get things perfected I really hope to branch out and do more of that. It seems like alot of fun. I really have alot of ideas I am working on.ting ready. From here I hope to be able to get started on my own shop and event space next year.

So with my reduced hours I am making sure not to waste anytime and being as productive as possible. I am trying to stock up the two stores I am in and re-do my website. This is a few things I have been working on this past weekend. For the holidays I made some double ruffled crepe paper streamers and its time to start making Christmas ornaments. I am busy making the cupcakes and the ice cream cone ornaments. The pink plate is what I painted when my friends took me to As You Wish pottery painting studio for my birthday. :) That is always so much fun to do. Hi, I have been away for a bit. My computer got a nasty virus and it took a bit to get it back up and running. I am lucky to have a friend taking care of it for me. I have had a laptop to use in the mean time and I have really only been doing what had to be done. That thing drove me crazy! Just not used to it, and the cats were really a pain walking all over it! I have been still working on my recovery. Its going pretty slow, but I have had a good week. I hope thats a sign of better weeks ahead:)

I made a trip over to one of my favorite shops, Tillies Attic. It is looking so pretty and ready for the upcoming holidays. Lots of new Halloween decorations that are just as cute as can be. If you are looking for items for fall they have that too. There seems to be more antiques and vintage things every time I come in and the prices are very good! But my favorite is always all of the pretty Christmas decorations. On Saturday October 15th Tillies will be having a sidewalk sale. The fun part is it will start at 7am. New Creations To Keep Me Busy

Well, I am really looking forward to the fall. Its been 115-ish for the last few days. But I guess if I was to choose weather, this has been a good week to be in AZ. With earthquakes and hurricanes I will take the heat. I hope everyone back East is doing well and will be back to normal very soon.

I have actually been getting alot of creating done. So for Show and Tell Monday at Make Mine Pink I thought I would post a few new things. I actually made the cupcake pillow for my Grand daughters birthday. I am really excited about the holidays coming up. I am in the "zone" and I hope to have more to post soon. Have a pretty and SAFE week ahead.

My Two New Addictions and New Classes

Wow, its the middle of August. The kids are back in school and fall is on its way. I love the fall its my favorite time of the year. This summer has gone pretty fast. In a way, but its been weird. Having surgery at the beginning of June seems like so long ago. I am making progress. For awhile I felt like I had it a plateau, but I am feeling pretty good now:) The really big news is I went to the Mall today! Its been years since I have been able to go to a mall. I walked around Barnes and Noble and to the food court for a drink. I sat there reading my new issue of Where Women Create. I love that publication! The ediors letter from Jo Packam at the beginning really got me thinking. Really Thinking! Its been a stressful three weeks trying to get back to work. I finally started yesterday. I wont go into all of the details, but the company hired to handle my employers leaves of absense was horrible. I have been put through the ringer, rung out and feeling pretty beat up over the whole ordeal. But back to Jo's letter. It was about your passion and "Your Dream" and how elusive it can be. Just when you think you have it nailed down, it starts moving on you. Life happens or while you are happily going down the path to that goal, there is a fork in the road. A new idea! A new opportunity! I have had so much time to think this summer, perhaps a little too much time. I have thoroughly confused myself. Finally things are making sense and the clouds of confusion are parting a little. The things I know for sure are that its time to move. Move towards my business I have planned. To start I have been presented the opportunity to teach some craft classes at the new shop I am in. Green Table Gifts is a new shop and they are offering some really fun classes. I am going to be teaching these baby shoe pin cushions and these headbands with matching pin. This is just the beginning. I am working on some other projects for future classes. I am going to incorporate my event planning in my classes. I am going to use my Cupcakes and Cute Stuff name and serve drinks and bring cupcakes to my classes. I am going to style my events and make it alot of fun. The attendees can bring their girl friends, hang out and catch up, learn something new and take home a new treasure they made themselves all the while enjoying cupcakes and cute stuff! :) Its the first step of my dream and I couldnt be happier.
Oh yeah, I HAVE to share my two new favorite addictions. I have never really watched Project Runway, but I love that show. Its only two shows in, but so far I think I am team Burt! He is older and really has an amazing talent. Hopefully he will be mature to go along with that talent. AND have you been to Pinterest??? This place is so addicting. There is so much inspiration and creating your own Pin Boards is so fun and can be really usful. I have to really put a timer on myself or I wont get anything else done. That wont do,,, I have new products to create for new classes. :) I hope you have a great week and spend some time working on your Dream.

OK, this is seriously fun. Since I am home recovering I have been watching alot more TV than usual. I got into an HSN special with Martha Stewart. They had an exclusive for this one event. I think it will eventually be available on her site, but it appears to be all sold out on HSN and I was not able to find any photos on their site to post here. But this is a knitting and weaving kit. There are different size bars, circular looms, and different sized pegs to create all kinds of knitted or woven items. I have tried and tried to knit and even crochet. I dont know if its because I am left handed, or if thats a good excuse for just not having the knitting gene! But I went to my sisters to bum a skein of yard to practice. I set the loom up for a scarf and was just going to practice. This is soooo easy, my first effort has turned out and it will even be able to be used! Next I am going to make a hat. There are directions for making the flowers too. So I will even all a couple flowers. I think I will make a few as gifts too. I am going to be working on a hand made Christmas this year. New Headbands and flowers

I really like making all kinds of headbands. I usually make them for my grandaughter Mya. I have been experimenting with making these roses out of tulle, taffeta and other pretty fabrics. Its been working out pretty good. Sewing on the machine is a little hard since my surgery. I can make these by hand. I actaully will be teaching these in a class at the new shop Green Table Gifts. The class will also include a matching pin that can be used pinned to a sweater, blouse or even a purse. I am coming up with other fun classes with projects that I hope everyone will enjoy making. Classes will be starting at the end of August. I should be up and running by then. This pretty shop has been getting new things in and its really worth checking out :)

I have finally been able to start outpatient physical therapy. Its painful, but in a good way. I can tell its going to be a great help. I am hoping to see alot more improvement in the next month. There a new shop in town! And it is so cute. Its in Chandler, near the Chandler Mall. Its in one shops surrounding the mall near the PF Changs entrance. Last night was the grand opening event and so many people came. There was some great food and each person who came in got to create a charm bracelet. Some of the artist who are in the shop made the charms and we helped the guests create a one of a kind bracelet just for them. Its a great shop in a great location, so if you are in the local area stop by and say hello. I am looking for to being in this store and hope to eventually be teaching some classes. Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cone For The 4th

Happy 4th of July. I hope ya all enjoyed a great bar b que and saw some fireworks. :) Since I am in Arizona and its around 110 I am staying indoors. We may go out for a drive later tonight and see if there are any fireworks in the sky.
I have been working on a few new projects. Today I finished a chocolate chip ice cream pillow and a pink cupcake pillow. I will be joining a new shop that will be opening on July 14th. I have been doing pretty well on my recovery from surgery. Its a little slow going for my liking but hey, progress is progress. I have been trying to become more self sufficient. Doing laundry, dishes and a little cooking :) I am excited to be creating some again. It takes a lot longer, but every day is better. I am set to return to work on July 25. I have had a few side effects causing problems, but I sure hope to be going back on that date. I am ready to get on with my life.

Earrings For Summer

Once again I would like to thank everyone so much for the well wishes on my recovery. Its going well. A little slow for my liking, but better each day. I can actually take a couple laps around my kitchen with just my cane. I am hoping the walker will be a thing of the past soon. :) I still have swelling in my operated leg so I have to spend some of my day laying down and elevating my foot above my heart. I am really looking forward to being able to walk again!! Its so exciting.

Well, I managed to make three pairs of earrings. Thanks to my sister dragging all of my supplies out and putting them back when I was done. I made this pink rose before my surgery. I love how these roses turn out and think they would be so cute as pins, on headbands or even attached to pillows or purses. I am also looking forward to the day I can get back to creating. My New Best Friend

Hello everyone and thank you so much for all the well wishes and prayers for my surgery. :) It was a rocky start with the anesthia but the surgery for a total hip replacement was done. I am sure it will be a great success. (Eventually) I honestly went into this only wanting to know the basics. I didnt want to know too much, and I am glad I didnt know then what I do know now. I honestly may not have been brave enough to put myself through this. Its amazing what your body has to do to recover from an invasive major surgery. The healing process is truly a miracle, but you sort of feel like on of those super hero cartoon characters going through their change. All of the contorting and and pain to get from ordinary human to super hero status. The side effects from the pain pills have been horrible, so I am doing my best on Extra Strength tylenol. It does pretty good except on Physical Therapy days. I have to give myself blood thinner shots in my stomach twice a day and now they are bleeding. My operated leg was way too swollen so that caused another three day stay in the hospital. My incision is at least 12 inches long. That is alot of muscle and tissue to cut through. I guess I am feeling pretty beat up and exhausted. But I feel I am turning that corner now.
Im ready to face PT and get this leg working. I want to be good as new. I am ready to get on with my life. I am not even sure what I want anymore. I just want to be healthy, have energy and lots of fun. The really good news is that the implant itself feels great and has never really been much pain. Obviously the large incision has, but you would think where your old bones had been pretty much sawed out and new hardware place inside that would smart more than it has.

I credit this to the skill of my wonderful surgeon! If you ever need a great Ortho Surgeon I can not recommend Dr Dungy enough. He is amazing. He had his work cut out with me. My socket was very deformed and he met the challenge! He is truly my hero. His assistant Tina and office staff are unbelievable and I consider myself truly blessed they came into my life. Soooo, for now my new lovely walker is my new best friend. My daughter April fixed it all up to make her cute! LOL It gets a laugh from everyone, so its nice to get a smile instead of someone feeling sorry for me! These pretty pink flowers were sent from my job Target. They are so pretty, I am looking at them right now. Well, I need to stop procrastinating and get to those exercises I need to do. Thanks again, (()) gail

My Last Walk For Awhile, and New Friends

Well, the day is almost here. My surgery is tuesday. I have to be at the hospital at 5:00 am. Surgery is scheduled for 6:30 am. I am getting nervous, but its more about the "after". Its going to be very hard to be dependent on so many for so long. Everyone has been great about offering to help, but it will be about 3 months I think? Not being able to get in the car and run to the store or even go to the mailbox for so long seems like it will become frustrating. Even being slowed down by my bad hip, I still tend to be on the go all of the time. But I will be a good patient, do as I am told. I am highly motivated to get my life back and hurrying it along isnt the right way to do it. So, this is going to be a lesson in patience for me. To make matters worse, on thursday I woke up with the flu. Today is Sunday and I am feeling much better, but not quite 100 percent. I have so much to do around the house, but have to take it easy. I can not bear to have this re-schedueled after all of this time and planning.

This morning I woke up very early. I have been sleeping alot and just fell wide awake. It gorgeous out and I decided to take a walk to one of my favorite places. Its going to be awhile before I can walk here. I live in a community called The Lakes. This is the lake right behind my apartment complex. We almost moved into one of the houses on the water when I was in high school, but my parents decided on another home. I really wanted them to get that house! I have always wanted to live here, but I am about as close as I can be:) I live in the community at least and the lake is in my view. I always notice in the early morning the water is so calm you can see the reflections perfectly. By the afternoon its always choppy. I always think some day I will do some water colors from these photos. Who knows, maybe thats something I can work on while I am recovering. I did meet these three feathery friends this morning. Cute little guys. Well, I hope you all have a beautiful holiday weekend. I will be back when I get home from the hospital. Thank you all for the positive thoughts, warm wishes and prayers! :)

I have been busy working and getting ready for my surgery on May 31st. Getting my house ready and groceries and kitty supplies stocked up on. I am not sure how long I will be out of commission, but it sounds like it could be 6 to 8 weeks. I am looking forward to having a new hip and getting my life back. I am relatively young to be having my hip replaced, but my situation goes back to birth. So, its very exciting to think of how great it will be to walk normal and pain free once again. Its been a very long time. I dont have much to share at the moment, but I wanted to post my new computer. A friend of mine helps me with my computer stuff and he does a great job building my systems from scratch. He is quite smart about such things. He found this pink and white "Kitty" tower case and new it was perfect for me. I love it:)

Pretty New Things

Boy, I need to be better at blogging more often. I spend ALOT of time visiting blogs. I will be making some changes to mine in the near future, hopefully for the better and prettier!

Last Saturday I did a small show in a home. Dorothy is a successful real estate agent and held this get together for her clients she has met over the last year or so. Her son is a caterer and gave a demonstration. The food was excellent, her home was beautiful and I met some very nice women. This is just a few shots of my space and also my friend Phyllis. She has the most beautiful work and sews with vintage chenille. This is just a small selection of what she has. Phyllis is one of the artist that will have her cute things in my new shop, Bella Events.

I am still doing alot of research and have an outline of my business plan. I found a site that is ran by the State of Arizona and it has fabulous resources and work sheets to use for starting up a small business. I have also found a few grants that you can apply for designed specifically for women. I havent slowed down or lost one ounce of excitement for this shop. I will be so excited to get my surgery over with and on the road to recovery and getting my life back. I know I will never allow myself to take walking for granted again. I am so excited that I have found a surgeon who is able to do this type of operation and I cant describe the energy and excitement I feel for being able to start this business and actually love what I will be doing.

Marketing is still very important and brings up so many questions about social media. I have twitter, but cant remember the last time I posted there. I also go on Facebook, but not too often. I feel like all of my "friends" are people just like myself, trying to get their online business or Etsy shop some exposure. But I question... is this the target market for that? We are all doing the same thing, marketing to each other. We may see a few customers, but I just dont get it. Maybe its working wonderful for your business:) I sure hope so. I love facebook for keeping up with my friends though. And the social aspect of it. But I do love blogging. I love visiting blogs and always amazed at the creativity and inspiration. I think its a place to be positive and show the pretty side of our lifes. I work in customer service, on the phones all day, and I can tell you... alot of times people are not so nice! But I come home and get so lost in blogland. I think people need a place to express what they know and what they are good at in a positive and safe environment. There is so much we can learn from each other. So, enjoy a pretty week and check out of few blogs:)

Fairys and Cupcakes

Happy Easter:) Its been such a pretty weekend. I am making the most of this weekend with family, spring weather and creating new things. I have been working a mon-frid schedule starting at 9:30 am. I have been in training for a new position since January and now tomorrow I start on my new team and new schedule. I will be a 6:00am shift. I am happy about that, but not thrilled with my days off. Thur and Sat. But I am hoping to be much more productive getting off at 2:30 everyday. Plus having one day off during the week can be a good thing too.

I have been able to do some creating this weekend and got a few new jewelry pieces done. I love fairys and cupcakes and have had these two necklaces in mind for a while. Just for fun I did another rose ring. I have been working on sewing some new pillows. I will share them later;)

I am still working on my business plan and I am so intrigued with the whole process. I love the research. This is the book I chose to read first. Lots of great advice. The very first thing you need is your great idea. You have to envision it in all its detail and glory. I have been searching wholesale companies for the banquet tables and 50 chairs. Also flower cases and bakery cases. In a professional and detailed plan one thing you need to include is what and where your compitition is. I have been researching this. Its fun visiting lots of fun places to see whats out there. But the great thing is, so far I have found nothing like what I have in mind. There may be pieces of what I plan in a current shop, but not the whole package. Also so many event spaces are geared for a very large amount of people. I am trying to get the group of ladies who need a beautiful space that is more intiment.

And I have to share a Grandma moment. My daughter and Grandson Mikey spent the night. Apparently the Easter Bunny was coming here to my place. I hope you had a pretty holiday too.

Its Just The Beginning

I think summer is making its way to AZ fast this year. I was at the Grandkids softball games today and it was so hot. The kind where you really dont feel so well and you know you got over heated. So I just moved indoors to A/C! My friend Pat and I had appointments at Sephora for make overs. It was alot of fun, but I look a little too fancy! lol. I did find this cute bug ring for 50 percent off and thought that she was pretty fancy too.

I have been working very hard researching all kinds of information on my new business venture. So far I am still liking the name Bella Events. For the cafe area I am going with a little bit of an Italian flavor. I love happy colors and like muted tangerines, butter yellows and raspberry pinks. I have been collecting a few things I think will be perfect. I love dishes, serving trays and display plates. Here are a few that I have found. I need to start fabric shopping and sewing chair cover and table cloths and runners. Its just the beginning. I am really enjoying this.

Have a pretty week and do something you love! I came to the realization this week that I have been working in Call Centers for the past 20 years, and I HATE it. I am thankful to have a job, but what an Aha moment. 20 years is a very long time and a huge chunk of my adult life doing something I disliked so much. Its paid the bills, helped me to raise my daughters and I have met some wonderful friends that mean the world to me. So there is always good, but at 52, its my time. Time to do what I love and go for it. So stay tuned, I will be sharing along the way. Pass on things I am learning and hopeful will be of some help to someone else.

Arizona Bloggers Luncheon

Yesterday I went to a fun event. It was hosted by Meri from Imagimeris. She creates the sweetest paper clay sculptures. They are so amazing and the ones she does for Halloween are my favorites! She had a few of us AZ Bloggers over for an afternoon of learning to make shadow boxes. We had so much fun. She had tables of supplies for to choose from. Lunch was unbelievable! She had prepared a Honey Baked ham and rostisseries chickens. There were amazing salads, fruits, cookies, brownies. Soooo yummo! It was so nice to meet so many bloggers in person. There was about 10 bloggers there. It was a chilly, rainy day for Arizona. So it was nice to be inside, creating and making new friends. Meris husband was so sweet. It was raining and he came out with an umbrella to walk us in when we arrived. Now that is a perfect hostess. Thank you so much Meri. I thought I would share some of our finished shawdow boxes. Everyones was so different, but beautiful....in case you cant figure it out, mine is the pink one with the pink poodle inside. LOL

Have a pretty day. I have some very exciting news. I will be changing my blog in the very near future. As I have said here a few times I will be having hip surgery in May. Its from a birth defect and a little more detailed than normal. It appears it will be a longer recovery time. BUT... I plan to make the most of this time. I am working on a business plan to open a new shop. Its going to be a cupcake/bakery/cafe space for hanging out with your friends, but the main thing will be an event room for special parties like bridal or baby showers. I have lots of ideas and plans and think it will be so much fun to document the experience along the way. I have researched quite abit, but the hardest thing so far is a NAME! But right now what I am thinking about is Bella Events. What do you think of that for a name. Cant wait to share more. Let the adventure begin...... :)

The weather is so pretty. I love spring in Arizona. I get Spring Fever bad and its so hard to drag myself to my job. I would love to be planting flowers or sitting in a chair reading a book. I also love Spring decorations. I was at Tillies Attic this weekend and Spring has definately arrived there. Its so pretty. I thought I would post a few pictures. Last But Not Least

Wow, what a gorgeous weekend! I cant believe its already Sunday night. It was a busy weekend, but lots of fun. Its hard to stay indoors and take it easy. So I may have over did it this weekend. I finally got some flowers planted on my front porch area. Now I love walking up to my door. No garden, no matter how small is complete without a gnome. This little guy has been following me around for years! I also got around to a little sewing. I am making bunnies and got this one completed. There are more in various stages of completion. It was overcast today and it was a little hard to get some good photos.

And last but not least, I am so happy to finally say my studio is done! Well, about as done as can be. I imagine it will always be evolving to some extent. I found this pink table cloth and chair cover at Bed Bath and Beyond. I even had a $5.00 coupon, so it was much easier and cheaper than sewing one. I got the glass display cabinet at a garage sale. I got the dress form and ballerina dress form for Christmas from my girls. Most everything I keep on this table is for display and I really like having different options. There is lots of storage under this 6ft. table. I finally found some pink taper candles at Pier One, on clearance too, for the "chandelier". Some day I hope to have a big, beautiful real chandelier, but for now this makes me happy. Its officially my studio now that I have a sign to hang. I made this on my last trip to the ceramic painting shop with my Grand daughter:) I have done my spring cleaning ~ planted my little garden ~ have completed my studio: I am ready to get to some serious creating now! Now if I just could figure out this 9-6 job thing that is cramping my style. :) I am working on a plan about that, but for now I will get up and start my Monday, thankful I have a job to go to. The Colors Of Spring

This is the time of year I love living in Arizona. The spring begins early for us. Its time to plant flowers and the sun is warm, but with a crisp feel to the air. I wish it would stay in the mid 70s everyday. I would never get tired of that. If I didnt have my family and friends here I think I would be tempted to move to Maui :) I have a fairly large patio that I cant wait to plant a container garden in. I cant decide if I want to have a mixture of colors with geraniums, pansies, snap dragons and many more, OR if I want to stick with a color scheme. My patio furniture is white and pink. I guess I will have to get out there and see what inspires me.

I have been working on some new creations getting ready for spring. Tomorrow its Make Mine Pink Friday. If your new to my blog, this is an event that the shops at Make Mine Pink have every friday. I love the Weekends

Its been a nice rainy spring weekend. Actually pretty cold and windy, but we see that so rarely in sunny Arizona that I love it! I spent this weekend visiting friends and family and doing a little shopping. I really needed it. I am going through training at work and its been very stressful for me. The small dept. I worked in was sent back to the corporate offices back in MN. So our small group is training for a new dept. It will be ongoing for almost 4 months. I had just gone through training for that position last summer and was finally getting comfortable in my job. I have to admit at 52 I like change less and less. However the world is more and more fast paced and you need to be open to change. This causes stress to me. Then I stress about not getting the time I need to be creating and getting things listed on my website, etsy site and my space at Tillies Attic. When this training is over I go right into having major surgery and a 4-6 week recovery. I figured out I better get my priorities in order. Of course I need and am very thankful for my job. My health has to be top priority for me too. I am just not going to be worried about all of the extras. Spending time enjoying life on my days off is my new way of de-stressing! Not sure how much I will be creating in the near future, but I will enjoy it when I do.
I made a trip over to Tillies Attic and just had to share some new photos of the shop. It looks prettier every time I go in. There is a new "tea room" decor area and its full of sweet items. I Love Hearts

There is something about the shape of a heart. Its curving and femine. Its always been a favorite of mine. Even back in school I used to dot my "I"s with a heart. My teachers werent thrilled and I had to learn I couldnt do that in school, but to this day I will on occasion dot my "I"s with a heart. I collect Teddy Bears and Hearts and since its Valentines Day I thought I would share a few I have around my studio.

There is even an artist none for her Heart art. Her name is Debbie Marie. A very good friend of mine is lucky enough to have two of her pieces and the colors are amazing. Its Like Spring Outside

Its been such a great weekend. In Arizona this is the time of year we get to enjoy. Its been in the 70's and it has been perfect. Driving in my car I heard several vintage Elton John songs. Love, love, love Bennie and the Jets. :) I think I need to find a copy of Captain Fantastic somewhere. Great memories of the 70's. I also have been catching up with good friends this weekend. Dont you just love a great meal, hanging out with other creative people? I leave so inspired.

My new studio is working out great and just as I had hoped. Having one large room in the heart of my apartment is so convenient. I am definately getting more done. I wanted to share a couple new projects. I have been making these fabric flowers. They are so easy and alot of fun. I like as many components in my work to be completely handmade as possible. These flowers can be used in so many ways. I am working on a bride doll and I want to make lots of small white ones to embellish her gown. This doll is a work in progress and working out the kinks in the pattern, but its what I love doing the most. I have made a couple more cupcake pillows and since spring has been in the air this week I am starting my Easter pillows. This is my first chocolate Easter Bunny. You never know what I will feel like creating. One morning before work I came up with this pin cushion. I have more things in various stages of done and I will share them later.

I just got home from Trader Joes and found these frozen macaroni and cheese bites. Three different sales clerks told me these were awesome. So thats what I am having for lunch:) I guess I will go and give them a try. Have a great week.

Elaine is the shop owner and she has been working really hard on bringing new vendors and gorgeous new things. They have been giving the store a fresh new make over for the new year. In addition to handmade items, you will now find several vintage and antiques vendors. There is one room devoted to Longaberger Baskets for all of you collectors out there. Pillow Talk

The holidays were great but I am so glad to get back to creating. Its been peaceful and quiet. It seems like its been a very long time since I have been able to enjoy a normal weekend. I had months of redoing my apartment spaces and then the fast pace of the holidays.

Today I made these two pillows. The rooster pillow was some scraps from some home dec fabric. I rouched some satin ribbon to create a trim to dress it up a little. The next is pink roses. I am working a new pattern for a teddy bear with a rag doll type body. I cant wait to get her done. I am really excited to get this year started with alot of new ideas. I hope you all are having a creative start to the new year.

Its A Brand New Year ~ What Will You Be Doing?

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. For the first time is many years we had family in town and we had so much fun. Christmas really is about family and friends. I know we will have alot of fun memories.

2010 was a year of transition for me. I had been unemployed for 9 months and started my job this year. It was an adjustment going through a long training and learning a new job with many different resposibilities. I am so thankful to have my job and work for such a great company. I also created a new studio and work area that is now completed and I am ready to start creating again.

I usually am not one for alot of New Years Resolutions because the fast become New Years Disalutions. lol But this year I will be making alot of changes, all good, but still scarey. Even good changes can be stressful. First, starting in February my job will be changing and I will be moving to another department along with my 18 co-workers. After going through training for a month last May I am not really looking forward to another month of training, but I must and do so with an optimistic attitude. When training is over I am planning to have hip surgery. My condition has been inoperable but technology has caught up and it looks very good for me. Its not a normal hip replacement, there will be some re-construction involved and the Dr hopes to lengthen my leg as well. I am not going to lie,,,this scares the hell out of me, BUT its time and I am going into this ready. I am looking forward to my physical therapy and plan to take advantage of every minute of it. I want to get into a workout routine that I will do from here on out.

As far as my business goes, I am making some changes. I have so little free time and want to use it doing what I love. That is creating. I have been focusing on how to be a successful business and not being the artist. I have been wanting to get back into doing my mohair teddy bears and art dolls. I will be doing some home dec things I have been wanting to create for awhile now. I am not sure how much time I will devote to social media, news letters and marketing. I just want to create, focus on my blog, website and Little Pink Boutique at Make Mine Pink.

So, its a big goal list for 2011. I have been getting ready for these changes and I am ready to start this new year. What do you have planned for a fresh new year? I hope its something new, fresh and something you have always dreamed of.

I wanted to share the work of my friend Del Gonzales. He is an amazing artist. His talent has no limits. I commissioned this portrait of my Son in Laws dog named Kid. Kid is 14 and very special to our family. His health is not what it used to be and I knew this would be the perfect Christmas gift. He loved it so much. Del captured every bit of Kid:) Let me know if you would ever like to contact Del for a portrait. As for me, I have not been able to get much done over the last couple months but I did get this bracelet and earrings made for my Sister in Laws birthday. Christmas Presents and Christmas Trees

I have had an incredibly productive Saturday. Its a great feeling:) My Grandson Mikey and I put up my Christmas Tree. Its not very big, but I didnt have any room in my new studio/living room, so its perfect for me. I love getting out my ornaments every year and remembering where I got each one. I have some from when I was a little girl. As I am typing this now I have three cats sleeping under the tree. I have been putting a few extra little touches on my studio. I got the wood trim on the glass display case painted pink and I was given this table from my friend Kathy. I had meant to get a before picture, and of course I forgot. My sister and I painted it pink too. I have been working on my ribbon area too. Last, but not least, I have gotten two early Christmas presents from my daughter April. I got this wire dress form that is soooo cute! We found this trunk at Tillies Attic. Its an American Girl trunk and even had some clothes in it. The drawers are great for more storage.

I hope all of your holiday plans are coming together. I feel a bit overwhelmed myself, but things are coming together slowly. It helps to have the tree up:)

Long Post/Long Overdue :)

I have been insanely, crazy busy trying to get my new studio area done. After a couple of unexpected delays and that annoying thing called my job (jk):) I am pretty much done. I never dreamed it would take this long, but I am very happy with the end results. This has been a true test to patience. I have not hardly seen my kids or Grandkids, and I have not seen many of my friends in 3 months time. I have several hundred emails backed up to go through. You get the idea,,, its been a mess.

Now I have some pictures to show you. The new area now called my studio used to be my living room/dining room/kitchen and entry way to my apartment. Its definately not the traditional set up for a home, but its perfect for me. I am happy with being non-traditional. The desk, sewing machine and large room is my work area. What used to be the dining room is now a sitting area with the TV and that flows into my small kitchen. The front entry is an odd little space, but I put my antique stove there and I made a little sitting area. I got the wall picture of the candles and flowers for my birthday, and low and behold in my stash of old linens I found the table cloth and the small pillow. Vintage 80's and looks good as new. It matches the wall stickers perfectly. Woo Hoo, saved more money. I will be honest, I spent less than $100.00 on this makeover. Its all repurposed from other areas of my house. I used my vintage suitcases to store my patterns in. I took what was in my living room and made a pretty bright yellow and citrus colored guest bedroom. So, I hope I am not boring you but here are a few photos. I do have one more space I am working on, and its going to be very fancy, but thats not quite ready so I will post it shortly. I cant believe how long its been since I was able to post. I have been going from the time I get up until I fall into bed at night. Working full time, family obligations and working on my studio re-do took every minute of my days. But its all done now and I love it and know I will be so much more productive. And boy am I ready to get back to the business of creating :)

Its the perfect time to get back into the swing of things. The holidays are here. Can you believe it? Show and Tell *** Birthday Week :)

Hi. I love October. Its finally cooling down, under 100 anyway, and the mornings and nights are so nice. I love Halloween. To me its the official start to kick off the holiday season. I always seem to have so much fun stuff to do in October. So many of my friends and family have birthdays in October. Including me:) It has been alot of fun. My friends and family are awesome. Its been alot of celebrating for a week and a half now. My BFF Johnsie(can we say that when we are over 50?) took my to my favorite Asian restuarant and gave me this beautiful Brighton bracelet. I love it and it is perfect. My Sister and my other BFF Kathy (I have alot of BFF's, thats the good part about being over 50) took me to a ceramic painting studio and I painted this rose cupcake. The cake on the plate in the background was from a previous trip. We had cupcakes from the Cake Cafe. Kathy gave me an adorable kitty tote bag and this adorable Boyds collectable box that has a tiny bear holding a cupcake. Today my other BFF's Mark and Judy took me to eat at Joes Barbque. (If you are in the phoenix/gilbert area; you have to go there!!) But it was kind of a suprise party. Both of my daughters and my son-in-law, grandkids and my other BFF Pat came too. Great dinner, great company and a great hook up with Joanns gift cards:) So, its been an awesome birthday week.

My studio re-do is coming along. Very slowly, but surely. I will have pictures soon, but I did receive the most awesome gift in the mail from one of my blogging BFF's. A Sneak Peak

I have been quite busy with this whole re-do of my apt. I knew it would be a big job and I am making a little progress. I have a few photos to share of some of my treasures I have found. I cant show you photos of a room yet, for fear someone would send them to the tv show "Horders"! :) I have spent so little on this so far, thats the good news. The bad news is when you go for the good deals, it means lots of painting and sprucing up. That just takes a little more time, and that is something I am kind of short on, but its the adventure! I have found two large domed cake plates for $2.00 each! I got the Eiffel Tower book ends at Borders on clearance for $4.98. I had been eyeing that cute paper plate holder forever at Tillies Attic (the shop I am in) but it didnt match my kitchen before. So I was happy to finally get it:) Plus I can now use all of the things I have painted at the As You Wish Ceramic Studio. I am using the two vintage suit cases for storing my patterns. I love the cupcake picture, I got that at Home Goods. As you can see I am going for the Bakery theme. I have an entry way that I am bringing my antique stove back home and I am going to set up my little entry area and make it look like a French Bakery. Tons of cute ideas for that:) So, my entry, kitchen, sitting area and studio work area will be pink with a French Bakery theme. I got the shelf with glass doors and painted it pink, it will have a dowel to hang on the bottom to thread ribbon spools on. That will be the ribbon cabinet and just below is a night stand I painted pink and put round white knobs on. This will be for my trims and lace. I am looking for a three drawer dresser to paint the same and add the same knobs. I love polka dots and those cute little knobs are perfect. The fabric accents I am using will be pink with with dots too. Cant wait to show you more.

I have been do some creating. I have been in an earring sort of mood. I made quite a few today. I hope you are having a great weekend and enjoying the fall weather. I hear its great. I wouldnt know, in AZ its still over 100!

Today was our monthly open house at Tillies Attic. As some of you may know this is a local store in Mesa Arizona. These get togethers are always so much fun. I will admit to owning ALOT of purses. Its so bad that my friends refuse to help me move them all anymore. I am not really a designer handbag kind of girl. The more girly girl they are the better too. I love finding great deals on bags too. I love all colors and styles for that matter. However there are to designer bags I adore. That would be anything Brighton. I do own two of them, cute as can be. BUT.... Mary Frances has taken making bags to an art form and they are gorgeous. I was very lucky to get one as a gift two Christmas' ago. (Its the last photograph). There is no update on the studio this week... I cant believe this, but I have changed my mind on the whole color scheme. I just cant help it. I have to go with the pinks and creams. Out with the reds. I had no inspiration and was just "stuck". As fate would have it I came down with the flu. Like the stay in bed for three days and want to die kind of flu. Somewhere in the dreams of all that sleep or fever induced inspiration I came up with the perfect ideas. I have to say that is REALLY looking at the silver lining of being so sick. But I will start again this week toward my goal. It may be a bad time of year to start all of this. Afterall the holidays are coming and I should be creating lots of new things for my shop. But I just feel like I need to get my studio, my apt and my life just the way I want it,,, then start fresh and new on my business and all of my new ideas. I cant wait to share some photos soon. I am still in the middle of a rather large mess moving my studio. Creative time has been nothing. I love to blog, so during my remodeling I am having so much fun discovering new artist. When you start searching the blogs time has a way of disappearing! Before you know its been a couple hours. I know you all know what I am talking about. For me after visiting so many inspirational blogs I just want to start creating myself.

I purchased a new book yesterday. "Book of Inspiration" by Jo Packham and Jenny Doh. Its like a hardback verstion of my favorite "Where Women Create". One of the first artist featured was Danita. "Danita is a mixed media artist whose colorful art dolls, paintings, and jewelry are capturing the imagination of fans across the globe." Nature, Frida Kahlo, Hot Baths, Childrens Books, Paper Dolls and Paintings from the Master are what inspire here. I loved her favorite quote, "Art is the only way to run away without leaving home...by Twyla Thorp" I have been struggling with the idea I am working in too many mediums. I was inspired to see that Danita paints, makes dolls, jewelry, etc. But they all have a very distinct style that ties it all together and defnes her art. Its given me alot to think about.

Phase One And Getting A Head Start On The Holidays

I have been contemplating that I need more work space. My second bedroom that I use for my studio seems to be shrinking each passing week. So, spending some time thinking on this situation, with one thought leading to another thought I had the great idea of making my living room my studio. I know I mentioned it in an earlier post and I have begun the slow transformation. Its going to take time because I need help moving the big stuff, paying for it with cash up front, and working full time. But thats ok. I am good with enjoying the journey these days:) But, I did get a start this weekend. I wanted a sitting area with the TV and my tunes in one area. This was my dining room. But it will do nicely if anyone happens to be over. The kitchen is right there, we can visit and if I want to work on things I can. Because I had to move things out of the dining room, I had to find a place for it, so I had to change my entry way. I tell you, its one thing leading to another and somehow I keep ending up with one extra piece of furniture. I actually put a chair outside my door with a "free" sign on it and it was gone in a matter of minutes. One problem solved! :) I will keep you posted on my progress. I am getting excited for it to all be done. How fun to be able to do it all in one large work area. I think my family thought I was a little crazy at first, but they seem to be getting the idea and think its going to be great.

OK,,, its almost September. I tell myself every year I will not wait to the last minute to do shopping... I end up waiting until the last minute! This year its a goal I am going to work very hard on. I also want to try and make it as much of a handmade holiday as I possibly can. So I have decided to be on the look out for Great Holiday Gifts and share them with you. The first person who came to mind was my friend Marie. (http://www.savonmarie.com/) And its not just because she is my friend. She has been making soap for alot of years and she has it perfected. I use her products and I love them. Her soap is awesome and it makes such a great gift at a wonderful price. Perfect for teachers, co-workers, or even hostess gifts for all the parties during the season. Her presentation is gorgeous as well. I cant wait to see what else I find to share here with you. Show and Tell Monday

Last week I won a blog contest that Caroline held. I know Caroline as a fellow Make Mine Pink friend:) She lives in Southern England and I love reading her blog posts and talking with her on the forums at Make Mine Pink. It sounds like such a beautiful place to live. Her work is beautiful down to the last detail. This is a rose scented sachet that hangs on a door or a knob. The applique work is amazing. It smells wonderful. I love the tags made me as well. I have been collecting these tags from my friends and I cant seem to part with any of them. I have been pet sitting this weekend and have been away from home, plus the regular 9-5, but I have managed to get a couple things done this week. The cupcake pillow was a house warming gift for a co-worker. They are making her daughters room very special and I thought that this would go nicely in there. The cake pillow is a smaller version, but it is fun. I think the most time consuming part is hand stitching the roses. I can see why people pay good money for them at Joanns!

Well, stay tuned, and I will keep you posted. I am going to be making some changes in my apartment. I spend nearly all of my time in my spare room that I have set up as my studio. Its getting too small and I have come up with the crazy idea of turning my living room/dining room into my workspace. I will have a small sitting area with the TV, but the rest of the space will be all work area. Its not traditional by any means. I live alone and well, why the heck not??? I think I will be much more productive being in the living space of the home. The TV and the kitchen will be there as well as all of my books. I plan on doing this in the middle of September. Until then I will be packing up, organizing and tossing anything I dont want anymore. I am buying some pretty red cabinets and a red three drawer dresser to store my fabric. I will have to have the internet moved and clean the carpeting too. So, I will have my work cut out for me and it will be a huge job, that once in the middle of I will be wishing I never started it. But in the end I think this is a good thing for me and my creativity. I will keep you posted. :)

Show and Tell Mondy

This weekend was near perfect. It was a rainy Saturday morning with a cool breeze. I even opened the windows for a little bit. Now on Sunday afternoon its breezy and getting cloudier. I really hope it rains again. These are very unusual temps for sunny AZ but I will take it. It was a really long week at work last week. So, a nice rainy weekend at home with lots of studio time was great. The cats were happy too:) As you can see, my office mangager, Lucy, has decided to become my model and spokeskitty. Always grateful for free employees. Here is a few of the new things I got done. There was more, but you can see some of whats new. I am slowly getting some fall colors into my shop. I hear that the dusty purples will be big this fall. It seems the earthy tones of rusts and deep greens too. I am working towards expanding my line into a fantasy and magical look. I like the dragonfly necklace, I am calling it Fairy Forest. Things have been far too serious for far too long. I am ready to have some fun and magic in my life. How about you?

Getting Lots Done

Its so hot outside in Arizona this time of year. So it doesnt take much incentive to find things that can be done indoors. My cable box broke and their service hours were pretty much the same as my works hours so I didnt have TV all week either. So whats a girl to do??? Its almost been pleasant without a tv. I have got quite abit done. I am posting pictures here of a few new things. The fall will be here before we know it and I plan on doing a few of the fall shows with the local Briarpatch Market Place. I am trying to get alot of jewelry done over the next couple weeks so that I can put it aways and start sewing. I will be doing lots of home dec pillows and other new things.

Christmas in July

Its Christmas in July at Tillies Attic. The front room is all festive and ready for holiday shopping. I saw so many cute and original decorations. If you havent been by Tillies in awhile you should stop in. There are new vendors and lots of new merchandise. Vera and Jeannie are on their way to market and I am sure there will be lots of awesome, fresh and brand new things coming in for the holidays. This is also the week of the Christmas in July Shop Hop that Make Mine Pink has each year. This is always a FUN event and you can really win some awesome prizes. Its almost like a scavenger hunt. Simply Pink

I love, love, love pink. I always have and I always will. I am the girlie girls of all time. :) This coming friday is Make Mine Pink Friday. Each friday there is a different themed shopping day. This fridays theme is Simply Pink, so I have been getting alot of new things done for this event. Its really inspired me, so I am posting this extra early. Its actually given me a new idea for my website too. Over the next couple weeks I am going to be changing the catagories around.

The first new necklace I am calling Maries Peony. I was at my friend Maries house in NYC a couple months ago and there was this amazing peony blooming in her back yard. It was huge and the most beautiful shade of pink I have ever seen. The pendant is a large peony and the necklace is strung with pearls and pink quartz beads. I came up with a pair of dragon fly earrings and these sweet lampwork teapot earrings. I love these new pink earwires I found. The last two things arent pink, but sometimes my hands just start making something before my brain catches up. I am calling this dragonfly necklace the Vinyards. There are small glass grapes and leaf charms and it is strung with very sparkly purples and deep greens. Last but not least are 3 rings that are made with gorgeous polymer clay roses that a friend of mine makes. Her name is Marie also. (Maybe the title of this post should have been "My friends named Marie" :) Marie is an amazing artist and a wonderful person. My New Suitcase

I love this suitcase! I bought it at Tillies Attic. I have had my eye on it for quite awhile and was so happy it was still there after getting my first paycheck from my new job. :) Its in great condition and the inside is divided and has a mirror. We think its from the late 40's or early 50's. The great thing is I have the matching piece thats a little larger waiting for me now. I think they will make great display pieces. I know alot of people into altered art are doing some very pretty things with these old suitcases, but these are in such good shape I could not bare to do anything to them, but admire them. This is just a sample of the awesome things that are coming into Tillies Attic now. If you havent been in awhile I think you will be pleasantly suprised. In case you didnt know, for those of you in the Phoenix area, Tillies is in Mesa on the Southeast corner of Dobson and Guadalupe. The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:30 to 5:00. I have been working on some new jewelry. This is what I managed to get photographed tonight, There will be more to come soon. I am finally on a role here. I need to get these on my site in the next day or so. I am trying to work on fresh new ideas for the summer. I feel inspriration coming from mermaids :)

This is a pillow my sister Stephanie crocheted for me. It is soooo soft and it feels like chenille. I love some of the yard they have out now. I so wish I could crochet or knit, but its just not my talent.

Me and My Teddy

Once upon a time,,, a very long time ago, in the decade of the 80's, I was a Teddy Bear Artist. I designed my own patterns. The real reason for that is, I for the life of me, cannot understand commercial patterns. The directions might as well be written in German. Anyway, I figured out how to draft my own patterns and read all about the Art of Teddy Bear Making. Back in the late 80's and early 90's there were so many talented artist out there making some amazing bears. There still is, but I think its a smaller group. I fell in love with mohair. This is the most amazing fur fabric to work with. I was told that once you started working with mohair you would never want to use fake fur again. That was so true. Its a dream to work with, but very expensive. Back then it was an average of $100.00 per yard and sometimes even more. I remeber the very first time I took a pair of scissors to mohair. It took me 20 minutes to do it! lol But as things often do, my life changed. I had to follow another direction and my Teddy Bears did not get made anymore. At this time I have a huge desire to start making them again. I feel like for the first time in many years I can. Now that I am working I can splurge and purchase some mohair. I am also working on some satin roses and vintage trims and mother of pearl buttons. I hope to combine some beadwork in my new designs as well. I have been doing some research on where to get some of the supplies I will be needing. The type of hardware I used to use for making them jointed seems to longer being used. But I am looking forward to making some more of my furry Teddy friends. One thing I remember about working with mohair,,,,cats LOVE it. You have to guard your cut out legs and ears or the may disappear, and you just cant have that at those prices!

I thought I would share of few of the bears I still have from my life as a Teddy Bear Artist. I saw this piece of fabric and immediately saw the ocean, and that thought process lead me to making a mermaid teddy bear. It was pretty cutting edge for the 80's. I made the momma and baby bear from a pretty pink mohair. It was always my favorite color. They were rescued from a fire when my apartment went up in flames. (Thank you stupid neighbor, but thats a different story.) But the color is a little faded now. I made the flower fairy bear with wings and the little bear head in a rose is a pin. The golder curly hair girl and the blue curly bear were made all by hand. (I lost my machine in the same fire.) Thanks for joining me down memory lane. I will keep you posted on my new designs. Some New Ideas

I have been wanting to start doing some bridal jewelry designing. I actually have alot of new ideas. Coming up with new ideas and also being different is hard at times. There are some amazing artist out there doing some very pretty work. I always like the girly girl look and try and find some unusual elements to add. So right now I am trying to think outside the box. I have some ideas that I hope will work out as well in the real world as I see them in my mind. :) I have some bracelets, chokers, headbands and even a ring idea working and hope to share with you all soon. I am getting settled back into the 9 to 5 thing and hope to be able to work in the evenings on my projects. But for now here is two bracelets I worked on today. I like the pearl one because I got the freshwater pearls while in Cape Cod. The crocheted lace is vintage and from a lovely antique shop called Horsefeathers on the Cape too. Tillies Attic Update ~ Lots of pretty pictures:)

Its amazing how when you let things take their natural course how well things can work out. After starting my new job, one that I love and so thankful to have. I realized there would be no way I would be able to keep the large room I had at Tillies Attic stocked full. So I moved out into a smaller and more compact area. Its absolutely perfect for me and my new circumstances. Plus there was a new vendor who loved my room, so its now going to be filled with lots of new home dec items and vintage finds. I cant wait to see how it will look when she is all moved in. I hear she is amazing at putting displays together. There are so many new vendors moving in now. Its looking amazing in the store and I just know this is going to be THE place to shop. I went in today to take lots of photos to share with you all. We do have a new vendor who makes the best pickles and she is displayed on an adorable wood cart, but my photos of that did not turn out. I hear that they are the best ever so dont miss out on them when you visit.

Gifts From The Cape

I am still missing my vacation time at the Cape. Ok maybe not the cold weather, but I am sure missing my friends and the cupcakes. I started my new job this week working for Target. Its an amazing company and I am so thrilled to be there. The department I work for is at the corporate offices and there is an incredible amount to learn. I am getting my sea-legs and trying to get used to working outside the home and I come home pretty tired. I am lucky to be awake at 8pm. lol Its an age thing I am afraid. So, I dont have alot to share this week. Pictures of me pulling my hair out trying to learn new stuff or sleeping probably would not be too inspiring. LOL So, I wanted to share two special gifts I received from my friends on my trip. My very favorite souviners I brought back home.

The first is the sweetest basket made by Carol. She is an amazing seamstress and always has the best ideas. Her quality is outstanding, and if that wasnt enough, Carol has many talents. She is an amazing cook and baker. She makes fudge. Its not just any fudge either. Its ooooh Fudge! It is so creamy it comes in a jar and you eat it with a spoon. Man, I am so hungary and that sound so good right now. Dang! Anyway.....she made each of us this special gift to celebrate Mothers Day. What a sweet presentation. Thank You Carol. Cape Cod in the Spring

I just got back home last night from a wonderful trip to Cape Cod where I met some friends. I flew into NYC a week ago last friday and my friend Marie picked me up there. I spent the night in her charming apt. in a pretty Irish neighborhood in the Bronx. We left saturday morning and drove up I95 to start out adventure. :) We stopped in Conneticut to visit another friend from Make Mine Pink. We stopped in the shop that Jennifer and her Mom from Cottage Flair own. It was a pretty victorian house full of the most beautiful merchandise. Jennifer had alot of her furniture pieces she "makesover" and they were prettier in person. I am sorry to say I left my camera in the car down the street. It was really raining hard. But I did do some shopping and bought an adorable pair of sandles from OKA b and some very pretty ribbons. (http://www.cottageflair.com/). Then we stopped in Mystic CT for lunch and some window shopping. It was a very charming town and the bakery we found had orange brownies! Unbelievably AWESOME.

When we arrived at the cape we were greeted by our friends and hostess, Joyce from Make Mine Pink. I loved the house and the views from the window were so tranquill and pretty. I had to take a photo of the bathroom sink. It was so pretty. They had lasagna and salad waiting for us! We talked until very late and had fun. During the week we did alot of antiquing enjoying the sights. We discoverd a cupcake shop called Cupcake Charlies and we spent alot of time visiting there! One day, Marie, Katie and I drove to Bostons Little Italy neighborhood to visit Mikes Pastries. We also bought fresh deli meat and cheese there, so it was an awesome dinner that night too. :) We ate lunch in a pretty tea room and visited one of my favorite shops, Horse Feathers. She has so much vintage ribbons and linens. Buttons also. We also decided to make dolls! LOL We thought this would be a quick project. Quick it was not,,,but alot of fun for sure. In the photo, mine in the one dressed in pink and ribbons. But I bet you could have figured that out. :) I hope you enjoy the photos of my trip. It was so much fun and very pretty. The only part I didnt care too much for was it was cold for me. I was sure it was going to snow, but the Eastern girls assured me that it wouldnt snow at 50 degrees. lol I am home now and its 96 now. And just for today, I am enjoying 96 degrees. And in case you havent guessed by all of the bakery visits this week, I will be starting my diet this week! Have a pretty week.

Jacaranda Trees in May

OK, I admit I have a thing for trees. I think its because there just arent that many trees here in AZ. The trees we have are desert trees and some of them are very pretty, but they are not the huge trees you see lining the quaint streets in other parts of the country. The color of green is not the same either. Kind of a yellow green. One time, during summer break. My daughters were little girls then. We were talking about trees. I decided to mess with them a little bit. It was always so much fun. LOL But I got out lots of magazines and scissors. I told them to cut out all of the pretty trees they could find. Then I gave them a roll of scotch tape and told them we were going to tape them on the back fence so it would look like we had lots of really pretty trees in our yard! I still remember the way they looked at each other, like I had finally lost my mind. But we did have one beautiful tree. It was a Jacaranda tree. They bloom each May. May only! The flowers are trumpet shaped and the prettiest shade of purple. When May is over and the pretty purple flowers have fallen and covered the ground, its still such a pretty tree. It is a very full and nicely shaped tree with lacy leaves. They grow all over around here and are so pretty.

I have some great news too. After being laid off in September, I have gotten a great job. I will be working for Target in their corporate offices in their customer relations dept. I worked really hard for this job. Its perfect for my background and experience. I did my homework and spents hours on my resume. Its been amazing at how it has all fallen into place. It doesnt even start until the 17th and I get back from my trip to Cape Cod on the 15th. Its been perfect and I am looking forward to beginning a career with such a great company. I will still be creating for my website and I will also still be located in Tillies Attic. Actually I believe with the stress of unemployment not hanging over my head I will begin to have fun working on lots of new ideas. Its all very exciting and I am looking forward to the future and all it holds.

This friday I am off on an adventure. I love color. Every color! Of course my favorite will always be pink. But I have been having alot of fun with blue as of late. What other color has so many hues. There are so many shades of blue from the palest baby blue to the deepest indigo. And they are all so pretty. Its almost like a neutral because blue goes with so many other colors too. Its getting warm here is Arizona so blue represents cool water to me. So this must be why its on my mind. This is a short post with some new creations in blue! Thanks for visiting. I believe it was John Lennon who said "Life is what happens while your busy making other plans." Truer words have never been spoken for me and the last couple weeks. But I think I have myself aligned with the stars again:)

I had a petsitting job this weekend. Sarah is a very sweet dog. (who does not like having her picture taken!) She has two cats, but they would have no part of having their picture taken. She lives in a historic home neighborhood and in AZ that means beautiful green lawns, really big trees and lots of flowers. I enjoyed sitting out on the porch this weekend just listening to all of the birds. I only live 10 minutes away, but I dont have the same birds! lol Butterflies and hummingbirds too. It was just what I needed and Sarah was the perfect company.

I have been making alot of new creations for my website and Tillies Attic. I always love being able to add new products. Also, thank you all so much for the prayers and well wishes for my daughter April. She ended up being in the hospital for 9 days and having her galbladder out. With her problems with seizures and anasthesia it was an issue, but all is well now. I had little Mikey the whole time. He is so good, BUT he is four, I am not:) My internet was down a week during this too, so I have been away far too long. I hope we all have a great week. (()) gail

Hi, I hope ya all have had a pretty spring weekend. Its been gorgeous here. I have been enjoying all the pretty flowers planted all around the city. On Saturday we had a luncheon at the Back Porch Tea House for some of the Arizona Bloggers. It was the first time I had attended and it was so much fun. I loved meeting everyone in person. I love blogging and I have had the pleasure of meeting alot of my online friend the last couple of years. I truly cherish these meetings! One of the ladies defined our blogging friends in the most awesome way. Because it is online, you get to know your friends heart. That is your first impression, the REAL person, not the physical person. I thought that was very well said. I cant wait until we all meet again!

I stumbled upon a buried treasure! Actually a friend of mine called and said they were given these beads and were going to put them on Craigs List but wanted to call me first. Well, hello! I am so glad he did. There are thousands upon thousands of beads, tools, containers, findings, and STUFF! And I got an unbelievable deal on these. The only thing that would have made this perfect, was if there were all mostly pink instead of blue.LOL But I can go with the flow!

I hope everyone truly has a beautiful week. I want to also thank everyone for the well wishes for my daughter April. She is still in the hospital for tests, but thats a good thing.She needs a couple things fixed, but she is healthy. We just have one sad little boy who misses his Mom. He cant visit her. This time of year they dont allow kids under 12 because of flu season.

I am still playing around with ideas from inspirations from Alice In Wonderland. Its been alot of fun to use the pretty blue and white colors. I found this empty pocket watch case and started thinking about some ideas for that. Its seemed too big for a pendant. One thought led to another and somehow my brain came up with the idea of doing a small pin cushion. After all the Mad Hatter designed hats and surely used such a sewing notion. :) I repurposed an old brass bangle bracelet and wrapped it with blue velvet ribbon and added the roses. I truly have more pieces coming this week. Its been a crazy week with the Grandkids, but I always love spending time with them. But I am hoping for a much more creative and productive week. I hope spring has arrived in your world and you all have a beautiful week. Gail

I finally did it!

I love to draw, and I draw alot. All over everything! But I want to paint and I have not had any classes since Jr. High. I have painted a little in water colors and acrylic, but its been awhile. I have had this blank canvas since last Christmas,,not 2009, but 2008. I finally sketched this cat a week ago. I got brave enough to paint it today. Its not great, I had issues, but it was alot of fun. I so hope to be able to take classes soon. My dream is to do florals in oil. In my head they are sooo pretty and I am just busting at the seams to learn. But until that time I think I will practice and paint cats. I already have a plan and sketch for the next one I want to do. Painting is one of those things that is just practicing over and over and studying color and nature. Training your eyes to see whats there that is overlooked normally.

This weekend has been beautiful, sunny and in the 70's. Flowers are blooming everywhere and the birds couldnt be happier. It was also a great weekend for yard sales. I got a few treasure including these vintage earrings. I got this adorable cat plate from Tillies Attic. Today was our once a month event at Tillies and it was alot of fun. There are some really pretty new things in the store. And lots of chocolate! I hope you all have a great week. Gail

Alice and the Tea Party

Have you seen Alice in Wonderland yet? I havent, but I will be going this friday. I am so excited, I have waited at least a year to see this movie. I am a Tim Burton fan and love the story of Alice in Wonderland (also Through the Looking Glass) but add Johnny Depp to the mix and it has to be a good thing!

I woke up the other day with an idea for an Alice in Wonderland bracelet. I like the way it turned out and I am currently working on some new pieces with an Alice theme. I have also been working on a new project that is just perfect for a posh tea party and goes with my cupcake theme. I am recycling pretty plates, glasses, candlesticks, etc., making pretty dessert or cake stands. These are the three I have done now and will add them to my website by tomorrow. I will also have some available at Tillies Attic.

Ribbon Roses

I love working with ribbon. I also love embellishing my cupcake pillows with fancy trims and pretty ribbon roses. This has led me to several books on working with ribbon. There are a few very good books on the market and I cant wait to dive into a few. I have been wanting to start creating my own trims by experimenting with ribbon and also different dying techniques. I hope to have a garden of ribbon flowers to share with you soon, but for today I wanted to share this publication. Its the latest issue of Sew Beautiful magazine and its all about ribbon. There are many projects with complete instructions inside. The roses I have been making for a very long time. I learned how to make this ruched trim and I thought I would share it with you. Its very easy and is just beautiful when done. You would use a double faced satin ribbon. Hand stitch a gathering running stitch in a zig zag pattern as shown in the photograph. Every few inches I pull the gathers up and this is what it looks like. How easy is this! I think it looks like the perfect buttercreme frosting for a cupcake pillow :)

If you live in the southwest as I do, keep in mind that February is the month to trim back your rose bushes. By May they will be lush, green and full of blooms. I have really found this to be the secret to beautiful rose bushes and have had alot of success by doing this. May your spring be rosey and full of beautiful pink blooms!

Fairy Sparkle Earrings

I went to a great sale at a local bead store called Beads Galore. They were having a wonderful sale and I bought some crystal beads. There were sooo many beautiful colors it was very hard to choose. I have enough to make earrings all year long I think:) It inspired me to come home and make earrings this weekend. I used to have a catagory called Fairy Sparkles on my website but deleted and combined the earrings into other catagories as they sold. I loved that idea of sparkling earrings that were fit for a fairy! So I have decided to add the catagory back. Some would appeal to a garden fairy, others to earth fairies. A couple of them are vintage inspired but they all sparkle. I made 18 pairs today and decided I better stop and get the photos and add them to the site before I get too carried away. lol

This is a picture of Lucy, many of you may know she is my office manager. This is how I have to make earrings. Try as I may to move her she always comes right back, so I just have learned to work around her. But I dont think I will be giving her any raise this year! Linens, Lace and Grandma Friend

As most of you know every friday we have a themed shopping day at Make Mine Pink. There have been some really fun themes so far this year, but I believe tomorrow will be a favorite for alot of you. Its all about linens and lace. So many of the participating boutiques will have a large variety and assortment of vintage linens and lace. I dont have alot, but I was able to come up with one new project I will post tomorrow. www.makeminepink.com/pink-friday.

This weeks theme did get me thinking about a few embroidered napkin sets on linen and some vintage handkerchiefs that belonged to one of my Grandmothers. Grandma Friend was always old for as long as I can remember. Very hard of hearing, but the sweetest little lady you ever saw. I have heard told she had a very stubborn streak, (that may explain something about me.lol) but I never saw it. I love to visit her in San Diego. She had a very cute cottage style house with this unbelievable garden. She grew everything. The berries were wonderful. Black berries, strawberries and even boysenberries. She had peach, apricot and plum trees also. There was an adorable play house made of wood with pink gingerbread trim I loved to play in. Then we would always make a trip to Sea World. The only part of the trip I remember disliking was her mean little dog. That thing bit everyone! I have so few belongings of my relatives that are now gone so these are very special to me. I have two boxes that the hankies were never removed from. So someone gave her a couple gifts that never got used, but I am happy it turned out that way, because I now have them to take care of.

Its 75 degrees, anyone want ice cream?

Hi, and happy Sweetheart day to everyone:) The weather this weekend in Phoenix has been picture perfect. It was 75 out today and it will be for the rest of the week. I know so many of you are buried up to your bums in snow and I hope its beginning to thaw and you are staying warm and safe. BUT you see, it wont be long and I will be living with 110 plus everyday for months, so I must enjoy now. Its been a rather hectic week here with my daughter in the hospital, another tire blow out and babysitting my four year old grandson full time. But today was my day, just little ole me. I spent the day romancing my business:) Adding new items to my website and Little Pink Boutique and taking some new things into Tillies Attic. This weather put me in the mood for ice cream. Because of the above mentioned blow out I am car-less today and no ice cream in the freezer. So I did the next best thing and made two pillows. Strawberry and Mint Chocolate Chip to be exact. I also got this gorgeous fabric that looks like fluffy frosting and couldnt resist making a cupcake too. Enjoy the new week ahead and happy creating!

Show and Tell at Tillies Attic

This was an exciting day for me. Today was the special event at Tillies Attic from noon to 4 pm. Alot of people came out to the store and enjoyed refreshments, wine and of course chocolate and shopping. I enjoyed meeting some of the other vendors also. I really appreciate my friends and family who came out to visit me and support me in my new venture. It was great seeing you all! I am really looking forward to making so many new projects to put in my little cupcake room. I have some really exciting news. I was approached by the ladies of the Briar Patch Marketplace and invited to participate in their new venture. A brick and mortar shop in Mesa. If you are local here in AZ its on Guadalupe and Dobson. It is a partnership with the shop Tilly Attic, which has been in this location many years. I will be displaying all of my creations in my own little room and I am in the process of setting up. I am striving for the look of walking into a shabby chic bakery shop. I am really short on time as I need to be done by February 6th. There will be a special event at the store on the 7th and I need to be in place and ready to go. Wouldnt you know I would come down with something. (again!) I have been fighting a respitory infection and also now babysitting my 4 year old grandson Mikey. But despite all of that, its falling into place nicely ~ thanks to my friends :) Today I just got ahold of an antique stove for display. Here is a few of the projects I am working on. Cupcakes of all sizes, chocolate Easter bunnies too. I will have all sorts of sweet treats from ice cream cones to large layer cakes to display on a pretty cake plate. (All with zero calories!) Even my sister Stephanie will be doing some dessert paintings for your walls. I will be posting before and after photos of my "shop" within a great store!

With all of the work that needs to be done, you would think the help would be a little more, well, HELPFUL. Googars doesnt have the same excitement that I do. Silly boy. (He needs a bigger bed!) lol I will keep you posted and until next time...... gail

This is a picture of my new Valentine Pillow. I think it looks like a fancy box of chocolates :) The plate with the kitty was something I did at a local ceramic painting studio called As You Wish. My friends and I love to hang out, eat cupcakes and try painting. I love my girls day out.

Pink Slippers and Marie Claire Idees

Hi:) This week a made a couple pairs of slippers to send to the Pink Slipper Project. This is always such a fun project and its for such a great cause. This is an organization that collects handmade slippers from women and groups across the country and are donated to womens shelters for women and children. Some of the ladies crochet slippers and they are so pretty. Others, like myself sew them. I spent some time at my favorite Barnes and Noble yesterday. My daughter and sweet 4 year old grandson are staying with me for the week. She is moving into a new apt. and cant get the keys until next friday. Its a great move for them, but this is a 51 year old grandma who is used to lots of peace and quiet. So I sat in my comfy chair at the bookstore for an hour. I had a gift card and bought the new bood from Tara Frey called Blogging for Bliss. I cant wait to dig into that one. I love blogging and cant wait to learn more tips and ideas. They had one of my favorite magazines called Marie Claire Idees. Its printed in France and hard to find. I have a few copies but there was a new one so I grabbed it. I cant read the french but it is full of beautiful photos and so much inspiration. I thought I would share a few here with you. Believe me this is just a tiny sample :) Have a great week. I have lots of new projects to keep me busy. Plus a 4 year old!!!

I hope everyone had a healthy, happy new years weekend. I am really looking forward to a new year. Its funny but everyone I talk to from all walks of life are so glad to see 2009 behind them. There is something about a new year, especially when its the beginning of a new decade. I have alot of new ideas and new directions for this year and I am ready to get going. But I had to organize my space! The two weeks before Christmas life happened and my cute little apt. looked like a bomb went off in it. So I designated the week between Christmas and New Years to an early spring cleaning and organizing my whole apt. Closets, cabinets, drawers and especially my studio. Its Sunday night at 9:45 and I have just finished. It took the WHOLE week. But what an awesome feeling to be done.

I am posting some BEFORE photos of my studio.... I dont normally let it get soooo bad, but like I said, life happened! Then a few afters. I am really excited to have set up an area just for painting and drawing. I have all of my books, paints, pencils and stuff in one place with my easel. Its been scattered for the last year so I plan on working more on these projects now. As you can see my office manager Lucy has her little blanket back where it belongs. Still sleeping on the job though. lol And last but not lease my desk. You cant believe the very large bag of garbage I threw out here. So, tomorrow I am setting up all my new files and after that..... watch my dust! :) I hope you have a great week and have a wonderful new start to your year. Take the time to get a little organized. I hope everone had a wonderful holiday and a Merry Christmas. I had a great day with family, friends and in the evening I went to see the new movie Sherlock. I really liked it alot. The movie theaters were packed! I guess thats the new thing to do on Christmas night these days. I am really looking forward to starting the new year. This is a year that has had many good things, but a very hard one for me. There is nothing like a fresh start and a new attitude. I normally dont make New Years Resolutions, but this year I am. I hope your New Year is an exceptional one. I wish each of you a Happy, Healthy, and Successful New Year! May all your dreams come true :)

This is a few gifts that I made for my sister this year for Christmas. :) The cat on the purse is her cat Lily. It was a photo transfered on fabric. Lily likes having her picture taken. My sisters living room has a little red love seat and she uses the leopard print as accents, so I though why not a leopard cupcake pillos. lOL

Quilt and Stitch Ornament Exchange

I participated in a really fun ornament exchange that the Quilt and Stitch Marketplace had. I made cupcake and ice cream cone ornaments for my contribution. The three I received are so sweet. I hope they will do this again. The first one is a sled from my friend Nancy at http://www.couerdalenegifts.com/ . She also had a bag of wonderful potporri sitting in the sleigh. The second is an ornament made from folded papers. Its very intricate and detailed. I just love it. Its really nice on my tree and it was made by Rebecca Dean from Utah. The third one is a sweet knitted hat and mittens made by Liz Sampson from Norwood New York.

This is my Grandaughter Mya at her ballet perfomance last week. She did awesome, of course. LOL She is really growing up fast.

Earrings and Fabric ~ Oh My :)

I have been as busy as Santas Elves the last couple weeks. But while I was working on some gifts and orders I made 3 pairs of earrings. I havent decided if they are for me or my website. LOL The first set of 3 is for one of my best customers and she is only 6 years old. Her name is Lily and she is the grand daughter of my friend Marie. I was out trim shopping and I was at this store called SAS. If you are from the Tempe area of Phoenix you probably have heard of this place. Its been here forever and you can get lost for hours. The prices are unbelievable too. Alot of trims are .25 and .49 cents a yard. I stumbled upon the designer samples that they were selling for 4.99 for each set of samples. My sweet friend that I was with, Pat bought these for me. They are plenty big enough for the projects I do and I am really looking forward to creating with these!

I hope you are all about ready for the big day. I dont think I am, but its all good. This week I have a ballet recital and school program for my grand daughter Mya and a cookie baking day on friday,,,so fair warning,,,Grandma alert!! Quilt and Stitch ornament swap

I got to participate in a Christmas ornament swap with the ladies at the Quilt and Stitch Marketplace. I have already received my first one in the mail. Dont you love getting suprise gifts in the mail. Especially if it comes on a day with no bills. :) I received this sweet hat and mittens made by Liz Sampson. I love them,,, they are so adorable. I hope she likes what I sent her. I will post the others as they come.

I went with my daughter April and Mikey to her holiday party at the dental complex where she works. It was a very nice party. Great food, entertainment, Santa Clause and the best part, a chocolate fountain! I have been doing my best to get ready for Christmas. I have a few gifts to get done and then let the wrapping begin!
